My interest.

This week I can post on what I want so I am going to tell you about my interest witch is basketball .

I play basketball outside of school on a team and I want to do it for inter school sport in year five. I just played my semi finals and unfortunately lost by 1 point! For P.E right now we are also doing basketball. In the NBL I go for Melbourne United.  In the NBA I go for Philadelphia 76s.

What is your interest?

CBCA post

At library for the past 6 weeks, Year 4 have been judging the CBCA short list for information books.

The CBCA is a book competition were the books are judged and there is 1 winner and 2 honours.

This year the books were Bouncing Back, Make Believe, Our Birds, Sorry Day, the Happiness Box and Waves.

A good information book has good visuals, a good layout and detailed information.

I voted for Make Believe because it’s visuals were interesting with the all the illusions. It also had good information on how to draw the illusions. The layout was also great because it had the illusions on one side and the basics on how to draw it on the other side. It was super easy to follow.

Have you ever voted for something and what was it?

Book week!

I looked around and saw all of the bright costumes. It was book week and the school was dressing up as their favourite character from a book.

I dressed up as Draco Malfoy from the book Harry Potter. I chose him because I knew that no one would think of dressing up as the bad guy so it was perfect!

I think that Draco Malfoy shows the PLA ( positive learner attribute ) knowledge because he sets up tricks on Harry Potter at the right time when no one is looking.

Who is your favourite Harry Potter character? and why?

Life ED van

 Hi everyone,

Today the Life Education van came to visit us. We learnt about how to stay safe online. She told us that lots of apps can let other random people talk to you like Fortnite. You should never trust other players even though they might seem nice online that does not mean they are actually nice in person.

She told us how to creat a good password. You could do your favourite sports team and shorten the name. Do you favourite players initials a # and their number. That can be your pass word. Mine could be NrthmelBB#50

We got to meet HAROLD the Giraffe! He plays video games but said the he does homework too.

We got a sticker from Harold.

Can you guess the footy team I go for based on the password?

Science Incursion

We were at Science Lab, awesome experiments everywhere  . 4T were at the Upperschool Lab doing different experiments on the properties of different materials.

We had to wear a lab coat and safety glasses.

We tested tin, nickel, rubber, copper, wood, plastic, cardboard and aluminium.

We were trying to figure out what materials were metal and which were not.

We got to power a light bulb with materials. We also tested if the materials was strong.

Only half of the materials witch is 4, powered the light bulb, tin, nickel, copper and aluminium.

Only nickel and rubber were strong.

Witch materials do you think were metal?

Community service

Year 4 are doing a community service and raising money to make blankets for rough sleepers.

Peter from the Salvation Army came in and told us what we needed to do.

We had to raise money by doing extra chores.

I worked at my mums ice-cream shop for 3 hours, I cleaned the bathroom and took out the weekly bins.

We did experiments to see witch material staid the warmest.

We raped the material around a can and pored warm water.

We measured the temperature every 2 minutes for twenty minutes.

Have you ever done anything for anybody and who?

Hands on Science

Today Hands On Science visited 4T. We did lots of experiments testing the properties of different materials.

My favourite experiment is written below:

Strength test

Aim: to see witch material is stronger than the other.

Material:

.paper towel

.Newsprint

.tissue

.copy

.paper

.butcher

.spring

.balance.

Method:

  1. Attach spring balance too a hook.
  2. Hook the paper of your choice to the spring balance pull.
  3. Observe the Newtons.

Repeat this until completed.

What do you think the strongest paper was?
