Do you want to stay safe online.

I’m gussying you do. One thing that will help to stay safe online is an avatar.

An avatar is like that little picture that represents you blog or vlog. Now to stay as safe as possible we create a fake picture of a person that we made up like this:

This is my avatar.

When making your avatar it is good to have a meaning for your avatar.Mine was I like celebrating,  so I put a Christmas hat on my avatar. I also have brown hair so I gave it brown hair.

What dose your avatar look like? If you don’t have one what would you picture it as?

Library Reflection

Reading is so great, don’t you think!

There are so many different books, authors and genres to choose from. My favourite genre is fiction. Fiction is great because a fiction story can be about anything like sport, art or a made up story about somebody.

A great book within this genre is ‘Danny the Champion of the World’ by ‘ Roald  Dahl’. This story is action packed and fun. You should definitely read it

Book chat is a thing at school where we read a book in 4 weeks and chat about it at the end of those 4 weeks. Right now my book chat is The Crossover. It is about to twin brothers who are the stars of there basketball team. Then something bad happens and the twin brothers start to ignore each other and one twin is questioning if there relationship will last.

Advice to future year fours

Dear Future Year 4’s,

I hear you’re coming up to 4LX next year.

Here’s things you should know:

•Year 4 camp is longer and a lot colder so rug up for camp!

•  You are in the best year 4 class there is.

  • You visit a nursing home once a term to visit the residents. You have to be very loud but gentle with them.

A couple of things to look forward to are:

•being an older buddy. You have to have responsibility. You can’t let them just walk off.

•  you are a part of the upper school and you are expected not to be silly.

A time I laughed was when I looked back at the photos from the nativity performance.

A time I was challenged was when I did APS swimming.

I am proud of getting through the year and learning a lot.

I always remember Mrs Lennox saying always smile.

Nativity Play

“Hello, do you have a place to stay?” pleaded Joseph as he looked at the in keeper in  desperation.

4T over term 4 rote and performed our own version of the nativity. We used the bible and nativity books to make sure the scenes and the lines were accurate. The class performed it to a year 2 class, our parents and the nursing home that we visit once a term.

A challenge was learning my lines. I was Joseph and I had lots of lines to learn so I practiced every night until I knew them off by heart.

Over all I really enjoyed performing to everyone because it makes them happy and that is good.

Who is your favourite nativity character?

Diorama

This term I learnt about natural disasters.

I researched volcanos and wrote my own information report on them.

We ended the unit by creating dioramas to show our understanding and shared them with our year 2 buddies. Here is my diorama:

Whilst creating my diorama I found challenging moulding the volcano with clay around a bottle.

What type of natural disaster would you like to research and why?

Division rules

We are the near the end of year and have learned many different strategies to help us in all areas of maths.

One particularly interesting method to help you to divide big numbers can be to know the divisibility rules.

Each group in our class investigated one and has made a video to share so that we can all learn from each other.

My group made this one on 2’s

Watch my video carefully and answer the final question.

What is the division rule for fours?

Weathering, Erosion and Deposition

In integrated we are learning about how nature and humans are impacting our environment.

Weathering, erosion and deposition are processes of breaking down and moving things.

Most people think that erosion is the breaking down of something but it is actually weathering.

Erosion is the moving by wind or rain of something. Deposition is where it ends up.

4T went on a walk around our school and found these examples:

This is an example of deposition. The soil, leaves and tanbark have ended up in the gutter.

This is an example of weathering. The water has over time weathered  the grass away.

Can you see any weathering, erosion or deposition? If you can tell me, if not just type what you think could be erosion or weathering.

GRA

We are participating in the GRA. GRA is the global read aloud were 100s of classes all around the world read the same book at the same time. The book chosen this year is Front Desk by Kelly Yang.

The book is about a girl called Mia Tang and her mum and dad moving to America form China for a freer life but do not get what they expect.

So far I have liked the book because it has been very inspiring.

To challenge our creative thinking, we were given challenges that Mia has faced in the book. I choose to think about a way to signal immigrants when Mr. Yao is present and when he is gone.

Here is my plan:

What is your favourite book and why?
